Arrest made after holiday decorations stolen

WKTV News

YORKVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Yorkville Police say they have made an arrest in the case of stolen Christmas decorations.

According to investigators, two homes on Walcott Ave. in Yorkville had Christmas decorations stolen from their front yards. Police say both incidents happened earlier this week.

In one case, three wise men were stolen from a nativity scene. There are still 13 wreaths missing from various homes. Police say it may not sound like a serious crime, but the penalty for a conviction could lead to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

It's a violation of trust they have in the community. Rightfully so people feel violated. It is something very personal. A lot of times people put energy into their Christmas decorations and take pride in them.

In one case, a family actually chased down those who they saw steal decorations from their house. That later led to an arrest.
