A look at NY state school aid growth

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State school aid in New York has grown more than 81 percent since the 1998-89 fiscal year. State aid to public schools is now almost $10 billion a year more than a decade ago.

The growth, which includes a 2006 Court of Appeals order to adequately fund New York City schools, includes:

1998-99 -- $11.8 billion.

1999-2000 -- $12.7 billion.

2000-01 -- $13.6 billion.

2001-02 -- $14.4 billion.

2002-03 -- $14.6 billion.

2003-04 -- $14.5 billion.

2004-05 -- $15.3 billion.

2005-06 -- $16.3 billion.

2006-07 -- $17.8 billion.

2007-08 -- $19.8 billion.

2008-09 -- $21.4 billion.

2009-10 -- $20.7 billion. (Paterson's proposal)
