CLARK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Bible says, "Thou shalt not steal." What would it say about stealing a baby Jesus figurine from a nativity scene?

Clark Mills Historical Society member Joe Abraham didn't know what to say - or think - when he noticed baby Jesus missing from the society's manger scene for the second year in a row.

"Well, I drove by and I looked and I said, 'no, it can't be'," he said.

What makes the theft even more shocking are the steps Abraham took to prevent it.

"I epoxyed the baby Jesus to the crib itself then put screws from the crib down into the decking of the manger and they still took it out of there."

Now, the reason for the season is missing from the manger. A bare screw meant to anchor the figurine to the crib now protrudes from it.

"It's just sad...I just don't understand it at all," said Abraham.

The Clark Mills Historical Society will talk about whether or not to have the nativity scene next year.

Anyone with any information about the missing baby Jesus figurine can call Kirkland Police at 853 3311.
