Police evacuate Wal-Mart in North Utica

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Some scary moments Sunday morning for shoppers at Wal-Mart in North Utica.  Witnesses say just before 11 AM police entered the store and shoppers were told to get out of the store.  All of this a result of what police say was a phone call from a woman saying her mentally unstable ex-boyfriend was in the bathroom of the store with a handgun.  Police searched the store but did not find anyone. Although police are not releasing the suspects name, they did tell NewsChannel 2 that he is wanted for a parole violation in Lewis County.

Customers we spoke with say the evacuation was calm but they were concerned,"my reaction was get my kids out," said James Allen of Stittville.

No one was hurt in the incident and Wal-Mart is re-open.
