Reward posted in NBT Bank robbery

MIDDLEVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The NBT Bank on North Main Street was robbed at approximately 10:45 a.m. Monday. The robber is still on the loose and your help is requested in the investigation.

Police are looking for a white Chevrolet sedan possibly a Lumina or Impala. The vehicle reportedly did not have license plates in either the front or back. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen heading south on Route 28.

The parent company in Norwich is offering a reward up to $10,000 for original information that will lead to the robber's arrest.

State Police report that one white male entered the bank around 10:45am Monday. He was wearing a ski mask and glasses and displayed a silver handgun.

No one was injured in the robbery and it is not yet known how much money may have been taken.

well, there are more pett boys still out there not in jail maybe they should be looked at for this one too? the people that have the money are still spending it buying all kinds of things especially new cars. the police should be aware and watchful, they might find last years stolen money before to long.

Hmm...when the person wrote that the money is "insured" I am quite sure they were referring to FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) and not the bail out money. lol

Not enough police protection? That police protection was good enough to solve the last two robberies and put those responsible in state prison.

I would think in most cases it would cost a bank more a year to employ a security guard. Most times the robber does not make off with a whole lot of money. I know about safety issues but there are pro's and cons that go with that to.

do u people realize that helping these police catch them get u nothing but problems? i know people who did this and got NO reward only grief for their help. DO NOT OFFER ANY INFORMATION!! That 10,000 that they promise is bogus! u only put your family at risk in the process, especially when it involves NBT this was the same bank robbed last year that a person tried to help and got screwed over.

And to "yeah", you couldn't be more off base. I don't recall anywhere in the media that NBT received any of the bailout money, let alone execs exploiting money... To say that you're glad money was stolen is quite cold, and very ignorant... The fact that these people have experienced this situation yet again must be emotionally devastating for them.

I chose my words poorly. I meant to say that the area was unsafe due to no real law-enforcement, and the Troopers being out of the immediate area most of the time. I didn't mean to call the village as a whole unsafe...

Don't you think the police have anything else to do than to sit out by a bank that may or may not get robbed..be serious maybe the bank should get their own security..maybe while the police are outside the bank watching for a potential bank robber and you need assistance they make you wait until the bank closes or maybe you might put an application in for the job

Why do people keep saying it's about police protection? I've never seen any bank with a cop stationed out front in case it gets robbed. If the police had to sit in front of every bank, our taxes would more than double.

it's not that the area is unsafe. Middleville is a very safe neighborhood, I think it's just the fact that it's a quiet little town where you don't expect something like that to happen even once, and now it's been a number of times. Criminals are aware of easy targets.

...why don't banks keep bags of "fake" money on hand for when they do get robbed...they could just hand it over and the joke would be on the robber when he found he got nothing but "funny money"...

Wasn't the same vehicle description put out on their last robbery? What the heck is going on out there. At least none of the employees were physically harmed. Hope their holiday season aren't too screwed up as a result of this.

Maybe the third time will be the charm and NBT Bancorp will realize that the area is unsafe and they need some security in that branch... The manager of that branch has done a wonderful job keeping her staff safe & unharmed during this & previous robberies.
