NEW HARTFORD (WKTV) -  Christmas Eve masses are underway all over the Mohawk Valley.

The reverend at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in New Hartford, Joell Szachara, began her sermon Wednesday night talking about people's beliefs, and how important they are in this time of financial turmoil.  "We get so caught up in rushing around and baking and decorating and gift giving and all that," Szachara said.  "What's the true meaning of Christmas, and for Christians it's coming to Church and believing and Christ and this little baby that comes  wrapped in clothes and hearing the story all over again."

The reverend says people need a foundation during tough times, no matter what religion you happen to be.
