Jady Voce sentenced to ten years in prison

By GARY LIBERATORE

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Jady Voce will spend the next ten years in state prison. The Utica woman stabbed her husband after leaving the bar called the Highlander on Whitesboro Street the night of April 13th of last year. 49 year old Joseph Voce died of a lacerated liver.

The couple has two children together, but Joseph's children from a prior marriage had plenty to say to their step-mother in court.

Joseph Voce's son Jeremy Sullivan told Jady Voce "you may have plead guilty to manslaughter, but make no mistake about it, you murdered my father, the father of your children and the only man who ever cared about you and for that, you should spend every second of everyday of your life behind bars."

Anorther of Joseph Voce's sons, Daniel Voce said in court, "on the faithful night of April 13th, 2008, my fathers life was taken by Jady's inability to comprehend basic childlike right versus wrong reasoning skills." He adds, "I don't think I have ever hated somebody until now. I've lived my life with the benefit of forgiveness and understanding of people and mistakes, but this event has caused me hatred that I cannot, will not, nor have the desire to lose. I cannot forgive this woman, nor should I have to."

Jady Voce did apologize to the Voce family at the end of the proceesing.

Voce will spend the next ten years at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility down in Westchester County.

The Voce family says the only reason they agreed to the plea deal was to avoid the couple's two young children from facing a lengthy trial.
