Fire that killed 6 year-old girl deemed accidental
SALISBURY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fire officials have determined that the weekend fire that claimed the life of 6 year-old Adriana Varvaro was accidental. Investigators believe that they have determined the cause of the fire, but are not releasing those details pending testing of items from the scene. Investigators from the New York State Police, Herkimer County Cause and Origin Team, and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control spent two days at the scene. Fire investigators say that family members and firefighters made a valiant effort to reach Adriana, but based on evidence at the scene, there was likely nothing that could have been done by family members or firefighters to rescue the child. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Miller-Plonka Funeral Home in Dolgeville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Due to the loss of their home, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, to make donations to the family. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of NBC-WKTV News Channel 2.
