UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local lawmakers such as Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito and Senator Joe Griffo are preparing for Wednesday's State of the State address that will be delivered by Governor David Paterson.

Lawmakers have been reviewing the Governor's budget proposal for the last couple of weeks in preparation for both the State of the State and upcoming legislative sessions which begin Monday.

Both Destito and Griffo hope Paterson addresses ways to boost economic development in Upstate.

"How are we going to move our communities out of this recession, along with the rest of the state along with specifically how are we going to work on building our economy?" Destito asked.

"I think this is an opportunity to invest in the state, particularly in the upstate region. I am going to be very carefully monitoring what is going to do to continue to move the economy forward," said Griffo.

Legislators will enter the joint session after being gaveled-in Wednesday . The speech starts at one and is expected to last one hour.

Senators and Assembly members return for their respective sessions Monday January 12th.
