Proctor seniors have to wait until after graduation to hear sentence in burglary

By DAVE DELLECESE

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two Proctor seniors who pleaded guilty to breaking into a Deerfield home last year will have to wait until they graduate before they hear their sentence.

Mark Coppola and Nicholas Schipano pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary in Oneida County Court on October 17 and could face 1-3 years in prison when sentenced.

On the morning of Wednesday, August 13, 2008, State Troopers and Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an address on Pauline Avenue in the Town of Deerfield for a home break-in.

The call came from a resident inside the house who heard the house being entered.

Troopers and Sheriff's Deputies entered the front door of the house and chased the two teens through the house and into the backyard, where they were taken into custody by a Sheriff's Deputy.

They teens had in their possession more than $2,000 worth of electronics equipment that they had stolen from the house. The occupant of the residence was not injured and was instrumental in notifying the 911 Center.

When they were questioned in October, the teens could not really say why they burglarized the Deerfield home back in August, but did admit it was a "stupid" thing to do.
