Blessing of the Sleds helps snowmobilers launch a safe riding season
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A unique blessing ceremony was held in Rome Sunday morning - the Blessing of the Sleds. The ritual provides an opportunity for all snowmobilers to have their sleds blessed in anticipation of a safe riding season. It was held at Grace Baptist Church on Turin Road and put on with the help of the Trailbusters Snowmobile Club. The group says this is the perfect time of year to talk about safety. "You have to plan ahead, stop sooner around corners because corners get icy," said Mark Destito of the Trailbusters. "You gotta' slow down a little bit." Destito adds that it's very important to drive slower when it is snowing out because your visibility is cut down. |
