Barnes seeks $300,000 from state for each year in prison

(WKTV) - Steven Barnes, the man who was wrongfully convicted of a 1985 rape and murder in 1989 and sent to prison for two decades, was exonerated of all charges last week in Oneida County Court.

On Monday, January 12, Barnes sat down on the Newstalk set during the Live at Five Newshour to talk about life in prison, being cleared on charges after 20 years, and where his life goes from here.

During the interview, Barnes revealed that he is seeking $300,000 from the State for every year he was in prison.

He also promoted an upcoming Birthday Bash Benefit at the 12 North Sports Bar on Friday, January 23rd, thrown by his friends to celebrate all the birthdays Barnes missed while in prison.
