Utica company says new absorbent is speedier and eco-friendly

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica company is using a new product to cleanup spills that's seven times more absorbent than other products on the market and its environmentally friendly.

Representatives at Adirondack Environmental Enterprises, in Utica say they use a product called "Oil Master" for cleaning out old oil tanks.

They were using a substance called "Speedy Dry."

Owners say the new product is a lot better, and it's 100% organic, as well as bio-degradable.

"We use it for cleaning tanks," said Dan Clemmons, of Adirondack Environmental Enterprises. "Spill response, above the ground, it instantly soaks up. It takes, like, seven bags of speedy dry compared to one bag of this."

The material was developed at Cornell University.
