BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Ralph "Bucky" Phillips was arraigned this afternoon in Chemung County Court in the shooting of State Trooper Sean Brown.

Phillips, captured last night after five months on the run, had a brief court appearance around 5 p-m to be charged with attempted aggravated murder, first-degree attempted murder and second-degree attempted murder. He also was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and stolen property.

Phillips didn't enter any plea. He was assigned a public defender.

Phillips faces charges at a later time for the shooting of two troopers in western New York, including Joseph Longobardo, who's funeral is on Monday in Saratoga Springs.

Trooper Brown recovered from his abdominal wound after the June shooting. Trooper Donald Baker Junior remains hospitalized in critical condition.
