A day after attorneys rest case, Dorn takes the stand in her own defense
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A financial advisor that was accused of trying to steal from an elderly client decides she will tell her side of the story after all.
The jury thought that they were coming to court Thursday morning to hear closing arguments in the case of Dorene Dorn, who is accused of bilking an elderly client - the now deceased John Hatfield Sr. - out of $350,000. On Wednesday, Dorn's alleged co-conspirator - Helene Hamlin, a former attorney - took the stand and testified against her. Hamlin pleaded guilty several months ago and will serve no prison time in exchange for her testimony against Dorn. Doreen Dorn's attorney rested their case Wednesday without calling any witnesses. But on Thursday morning, her attorney announced she would take the stand and testify in her own defense. Click the ***VIDEO*** link for a LIVE report from the courthouse. |
