DNA samples taken from investigators involved in 1985 Kimberly Simon murder

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oneida County District Attorney is requesting DNA samples from Oneida County Sheriff's Department investigators who were involved in evidence collection in the Kimberly Simon murder investigation back in 1985.

D.A. Scott McNamara says it's what's known as "elimination testing."

The purpose of the testing is to eliminate certain DNA not associated with Simon's assault and murder as DNA belonging to suspects in this case.

D.A. McNamara says calls and leads are still coming in, and that progress in the case is made almost daily.

In fact, McNamara says investigators with the Kimberly Simon task force recently returned from a second trip out of state.
