Postal Carriers honored for heroic acts

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Four letter carriers were recognized for their heroic efforts while on their routes.

Two of them had saved senior citizens who had fallen outside of their homes.

Utica Mayor David Roefaro says these people deserve the recognition because the don't just deliver our mail.

"They do much more than that - they are our eyes and ears of our community," Mayor Roefaro said. "They're in our communities, they're in our neighborhoods. They see what's going on. How many times have they reported suspicious activity that's been going on in a neighborhood They are our eyes and ears."

All four carriers were praised for their quick thinking and going above the call of their duties.
