Rome man charged for sex with 13 year old girl after meeting online


ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man has been arrested for the second time in just three months, after it is alleged that he had sex with a 13 year old girl at his residence.

According to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Peter M. Cavaggioni, 21, has been charged with second-degree rape, and second-degree criminal sexual act.

The Child Advocacy Center said that Cavaggioni met the 13-year old girl over the online networking site

After corresponding for several months via email, the two met in person, when Cavaggioni is said to have brought the girl to his residence and had sex with her.

Cavaggioni was arraigned in Rome City Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail without bail.

The victim has been offered counseling through the Child Advocacy Center.

According to authorities, Cavaggioni was previously arrested on December 17, 2008, and charged with sexual misconduct after he is said to have had sex with a 16-year old girl. Those charges are still pending.

The investigation is continuing, and there are more charges possible.
