18 layoffs at Sherrill Manufacturing

SHERRILL, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Central New York business that's experienced nothing but growth that began in 2005 is now laying off employees for the first-time ever. Officials at Sherrill Manufacturing confirm that approximately 18 employees were laid off Wednesday.

Company CEO Gregory Owens says that "right now, there's no way to know if the employees will ever be called back to work. It's tremendously sad because nobody deserves that."

Owens said decreases in order volume forced the layoffs. He said it effected a broad range of employees from clerical to manufacturing.
