Closure date of ConMed on Broad Street set for May

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - ConMed has set the date for the closing of its facility on Broad Street in Utica. The previously announced closing will result in the loss of 58 jobs.

Company leaders announced last year that the Broad Street plant would be closing and up to 150 jobs would be gone within a year.

The company has filed a "warn notice" with the State Department of Labor, saying that 58 employees are being laid off and the plant is closing May 29.

The jobs are being be moved to Mexico, where it's much cheaper to manufacture their medical and surgical supplies.
