Newport man on trial for attempted murder, closing arguments to be held Monday

NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The trial will continue Monday in the case of a man who shot someone with a high-powered rifle. 42-year-old Michael Caldwell of Newport is accused of attempted murder.

State Police say he got into an altercation with 33-year-old Daniel Uebele. Both men live in the White Creek Trailer Park.

Police say that Caldwell suffered a fractured cheek bone. After that, police say that he shot Uebele in both legs.

The prosecution called its last witness in the case Monday afternoon. Closing arguments are set for Monday morning.
