Funeral arrangements set for Rome Marine killed in the line of duty
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Funeral arrangements are now in place for Fallen Marine Lance Corporal Daniel Geary, the Rome native killed in the line of duty by a bomb explosion in Afghanistan late Friday.
The Department of Defense says that Geary's body will arrive at The Oneida County International Airport, formerly known as Griffiss Air Force Base at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 26.
The tarmac will be made open to the public, but the family will be given its space.
The procession of the body will travel Thursday from Chestnut to Black River Boulevard, around Fort Stanwix and back up James Street, before a private service at Barry Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be held at Barry Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, March 27.
The funeral service will take place Saturday, March 28 at 11a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Rome, and will be open to public. Geary will then be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in a private ceremony.
