UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Plans to revamp a section of Utica's North-South Arterial will be open for public discussion Tuesday during two meetings.

From 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Department of Transportation Officials at the State Office Building in Utica will explain proposed changes and three possible options for the Court Street section of the project.

The overall plan is to replace the viaduct, or bridge, which extends from Court Street North to the CSX railroad tracks.

A proposal for a bridge going over court street for pedestrians is also a part of this multi-pronged project.

Phase 1: Relocate and demolish properties.
*Build secondary traffic routes (Burrstone-Lincoln Ave.;
Champlin Ave; Sunset Ave. Turnaround)
*Construct pedestrian bridge

Phase 2:
*Recreation trail
*Mainline on and off ramps

Phase 3:
*Demolition of existing viaduct
*Reconstruct Court Street
*Build new walls and bridges

DOT officials say the project will cost about $60 million and is 80% federally, 20% state funded.

Funds for the first two phases have been secured according to the DOT while the most expensive part, the viaduct replacement have not been.

Wednesday's meetings take at the State Office Building located at 207 Genesee Street.

A public hearing will take place in fall regarding properties that would be impacted.
