Dolgeville teen accused of lighting other teen on fire in court on unrelated charges

HERKIMER, N.Y (WKTV) - Kyle Edick, the Dolgeville man accused of lighting a person on fire in January was back in court Tuesday.

State Police say a 19 year-old was passed out when Edick, 18, lit the pants of the passed out teen on fire - this after someone else had already thrown gasoline on him.

The victim survived, suffering second-degree burns to his abdomen and arms. The victim originally told the hospital he did it to himself by accident, only coming forward with the truth after the video circulated throughout the community.

Edick briefly appeared in Herkimer County Court on a probation violation for unrelated charges. Those charges, because of his age at the time of the original crime, are not being released.

Edick is due back in court for a hearing May 5.
