National Grid and Oneida Nation reach agreement for services
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - After nearly four years of negotiations, National Grid and the Oneida Indian Nation have finalized a new agreement establishing clear terms and conditions for day-to-day services.
The agreement covers both electric and gas services from National Grid for the Nation. The agreement still needs to be signed by the federal government, and until then, details will not be released. A spokesperson for National Grid says the agreement allows them to get back to what they do best. "Today's event marks a significant accomplishment for both of us," said Susan Crossett of National Grid. "We ultimately believe this new agreement will allow us to deliver on our number one goal - that is to provide safe, reliable electric service; to not only the Oneidas; but to all of our customers in the local area." Oneida Indian Nation Chief Executive Officer, Ray Halbritter says the agreement respects the sovereignty of the nation, while addressing the business concerns of National Grid. Most Popular
