Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to get crash course in Mohawk Valley

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York State's Junior Senator is getting her first taste of the Mohawk Valley, in more ways than one.

Kirsten Gillibrand is touring a number of locations throughout Tuesday and delivering the keynote address at the Leading EDGE Awards throughout the Noon hour.

Gillibrand was at Hart's Hill Inn as the guest speaker for Mohawk Valley EDGE's Leading Edge awards, which showcases emerging businesses from whom they've expected and continue to expect great things.

The room was filled with local business people and elected officials, so Gillibrand is certain to get an earful on the economic issues facing Upstate NY including - loss of high-paying industrial jobs, efforts to lure a chip fab plant, a failed partnership agreement between Oneida County and the Oneida Indian Nation, just to name a few.

Later on Tuesday, Gillibrand will join Congressman Michael Arcuri for a tour of Rome Labs and they'll be talking to the media after that.
