MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - It is time for sophomores and juniors in high school to start thinking about where they want to attend college, and a seminar at SUNYIT on Saturday may have sealed the deal for some of them. It was a U.S. Armed Service Academy seminar.

Michael Flannigan, and his son, Sean who is a sophomore at Whitesboro High School attended. They said, "we're just here to discuss a couple of issue with all of the academies and see what maybe what may be the right choice."

Sean Flannigan said, "I always looked at it as a little kid, always wanted to go there, and i want to serve my country." With his great grades, Sean can probably get into most any college he chooses, the one he is leaning towards, is the the U.S. Naval Academy.

All potential candidates to attend a U.S. Armed Service Academy will have to earn a letter of recommendation letter from their Congressman.

Congressman Michael Arcuri, who spoke to the kids the group says the interest seems to be rising, "in fact last year, the number of applications that we had were as high as we have ever seen, so the numbers continues to be there and the interest continues to be high."
