Students at Whitesboro High School got a lesson on the dangers of drinking and driving-- from a survivor of a drunk driving crash. Brandon Silvera narrowly survived a drunk driving accident when he was a teenager, and he shared his experience with students.

One night, when Brandon Silvera was 17, he had a couple beers but decided to drive home anyway. He crashed his car, forcing himself into 10 months of rehabilitation where he had to learn to walk and talk all over again. Brandon is now left with a speech impediment and memory loss.

He, along with his father, travel around the country speaking to teenagers, letting them know the dangers of driving drunk. Brandon's father, Tony Silvera, says it's a program students can relate to because of who is speaking.

He says, "The student say, 'You know what? He looks like me. He's an athlete.. And he just had a couple of beers and look what happened to his life. I ought to think twice about doing that.'"

The message Brandon wants all students to walk away with: One bad decision can changed your life.
