Former councilwoman to run for South Utica seat

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former councilwoman is looking to remove the "former" from her title.

Anne Sullivan has announced her candidacy for the South Utica Common Council seat on Tuesday.

Sullivan represented the area from 2000 to 2004, and says South Utica has been heading in the wrong direction since she left the council.

"As I look around South Utica, I feel as though a lot of progress that I had tried to make in the term that I was there has not been made, and I feel that we have stagnated," Sullivan said. "And it's time that a stronger voice came into this district."

South Utica is currently represented by Rocco Giruzzi. Giruzzi has confirmed that he is indeed seeking re-election this year, and he looks forward to the race with Sullivan.
