Adolescent recovering after Oneida County's 2nd confirmed swine flu case

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A second case of the H1N1 virus, also known as "swine flu," has been confirmed in Oneida County, just a week after it was reported that an adolescent in the area had recovered from the virus before the test results were confirmed.

Oneida County Health Department officials received confirmation from the New York State Wadsworth Laboratory that the sample submitted for a child presenting flu-like symptoms has tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

"just as in the first case, the patient has already fully recovered from the illness and has returned to all normal activities," said Dr. Daniel W. Gilmore, acting director of health. "as with most reported cases of H1N1 influenza, the patient's symptoms are no worse than those of seasonal flu."
