Three teens charged for breaking into New Hartford residence
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Three teens have been charged after police say they broke into a New Hartford home on Wednesday afternoon. On June 17, 2009 around 12:45 p.m., New Hartford Police responded to a residential burglar alarm at 14 Stonebridge Road. Reaching the scene, officers found that the residence had been broken into. While checking the inside of the home, a resident of White Pine Road called 911 to report three males running through the backyards in the area. Additional officers were sent to the area and, while on Upper Woods Road, located Corey Talerico, 16 of Utica, along with two male juveniles matching the description of the males reportedly running in the area. Once it was determined that no one was remaining inside the 14 Stonebridge Road residence, the homeowner was contacted and informed of the situation. A further investigation into the matter revealed that Talerico and the two juveniles - who are both fifteen years old - had broken into the residence by prying open the sliding glass door at the rear of the house. The teens then entered the house but fled the residence when the alarm activated. All three were apprehended within minutes of the alarm and charged with second-degree burglary, as well as criminal mischief for the damage sustained to the door and possession of burglar tools. Talerico was arraigned in The Town of New Hartford Court on these charges and released on his own recognizance. The fifteen-year-old males will answer the charges in Oneida County Family Court at a later date. They were released into the custody of their respective parents. |
