UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - After 14-weeks of intense training, 27 newly minted firefighters received their badge of honor Friday and were sworn into their respective stations.

This is class 15 to graduate from the Utica Fire Academy. A formal graduation ceremony was held on the Masonic campus. These young men will join 12 different departments around the state. Utica's Assistant Fire Chief says although their 14 weeks of training is over, in this career it's an ongoing process, "this is by no means the end of their training back to their cities it will take years for them to hone their skills from here on."

The keynote speaker was Captain Richard Redmond, Commander of the 108th Infantry Division.
