Regional twirling competition held in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Talented twirlers from Central New York and beyond are in Utica for a regional competition.

We caught up with the girls during their pageant gown competition at Utica College's Clark Athletic Center. The president of Twirling Unlimited says girls take a lot more than outer beauty and poise away from the twirling competition, "many of the twirlers have gone on to extremely high positions, and they credit a lot of it to the experience they had in twirling, going out there, you know, you forget your routine, you have to do something and so that learning to solve problems, improvise, is part of it," says Ardath Frank.

The winners from Friday's regional twirling competition will win college scholarships and some will go on to the international competition next week in Canton, Ohio.
