Four people sent to hospital following Hinckley Lake boating accident

REMSEN, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two boats collided early Saturday morning on Hinckley Lake and four people were sent to the hospital due to their sustained injuries, according to police.

At around 1:40 a.m., a 28-foot boat operated by 27-year-old Christopher Poczatek of Hinckley was moving away from a small island when it crashed into another boat operated by 35-year-old Timothy Degrace of Remsen which was attempting to dock on the island.

According to New York State Police, Degrace's boat flipped over and was partially submerged underwater. Degrace and his passenger, 29-year-old Adam Degrace were able to swim to shore.

These two men were transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for evaluation of possible injuries. Adam Degrace complained of minor shoulder pain and Timothy Degrace complained of lower back pain and possible head injury.

A spokesperson for St. Elizabteh Medical Center says that both men were treated and released by Saturday afternoon.

Poczatek and passenger 24-year-old Crystal Graves were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol assisted with the investigation at the scene. The investigation into the accident is continuing.
