VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The world's number one golfer, Tiger Woods is officially coming to the Turning Stone Resort in August. He is scheduled to play August 24th in the Noah Begay III Foundation Challenge.

Begay is a longtime friend of Woods, the two were roommates while in college at Stanford in the '80's. Begay is the only Native American on the PGA Tour. He holds his annual charity skins game at the Turning Stone where four PGA players, including himself play 18 holes to raise money for Begay's Foundation which supports youth sports and wellness programs for Native Americans in New Mexico and other states.

Begay and Woods will be joined by fellow top PGA players Mike Weir and Camilo Villegas.

Regarding Tiger Woods, Begay said, "we played a practice round this past Tuesday down at Congressional and he's very excited to come up here, he's heard so much about the area from me about the event and I'm just curious how he's going to like the golf course. I just think he'll like the golf course maybe be able to play in the Resort Championship sometime soon."

The Turning Stone Resort Championship, the actual four day PGA tournament is scheduled for Oct 1 through Oct. 4. The Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge is scheduled for Monday, August 24th.

Begay says he hopes to see Tiger play in the actual PGA Tournament at Turning Stone as early as next year, he says his schedule doesn't make it possible this year.

Tiger had planned to play in Begay's event last year, but couldn't because of his knee injury. Now he's healthy and Central New York golf fans are elated and so is the Turning Stone. But you will pay to see him! The tickets are being sold in packages, and the lowest price is $330.00. Besides a ticket to the event, it also includes transportation from the Resort to the Golf Course, Lunch and a Cocktail reception.

You can also pay even more to include a room and a round of golf.
