Griffo says he has own alternative to finding new Lt. Governor

By WKTV News

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - State Senator Joseph Griffo says he introduced legislation, last month, to fix the issues in filling vacancies in statewide offices.

"My bill would enact a system identical to the one used under the federal Constitution to fill a vacancy in the office of the Vice-President. It would require separate votes from each House Legislature, rather than a single vote in joint session, ensuring that no single House has enough votes to confirm the nomination itself."

Governor Paterson says he expects there may be litigation over this decision, however he said he just asks that the process take as little time as possible.
