Blood donors needed!

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The American Red Cross and Herkimer VFW join forces in the third annual "Communities That Care" blood drive.

This year was a little different, though. A Herkimer girl, Julia Bunce shared her story as a patient fighting acute lymphocytic leukemia. She and Assemblyman Marc Butler are promoting the need for blood donations over the Summer months.

The blood services director, Diane O'Donnell says stockpiles are very low and donors are especially needed.

The blood drive ran until until 7 p.m. at the Herkimer VFW on Mohawk Street.
