PBA solicitations in 13492 zip code cause some confusion

WHITESBORO and WHITESTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - A letter from a local police agency seeking funds for its benevolent association, has caused quite a bit of confusion in the 13492 zip code.

The John J. Buley Police Benevolent Association in Whitesboro is currently conducting a fund raising campaign, soliciting donations from local businesses and residents.

The Whitestown Police Department has said that it has received numerous phone calls from residents regarding the solicitation and sent out a release early Tuesday morning to state the fund raising was not by them, as they are not doing any fund raising due to tough economic times.

The Whitesboro fund raising drive is covering the 13492 zip code area, which does include Whitestown.

To clarify, this is not a scam, just two separate Police Benevolent Associations - one seeking fund raising, and one that is not.
