Governor Paterson directs flags to be flown at half-staff in tribute to Lasher
ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Governor David Paterson directed flags to be flown at half-staff on all New York State government buildings on Thursday in memory of Oneida fallen Marine LCpl. Jeremy Lasher.
Lasher was killed while supporting combat operations in the Helman Province of Afghanistan. His body will return to his hometown Oneida Thursday and services are planned for the return of his remains. "Lance Corporal Lasher was a brave and dedicated serviceman whose memory will be forever honored by the nation he sought to protect," Governor Paterson said. "On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends and fellow marines." Governor Paterson typically directs all State building to lower their flags in tribute to all New York servicemen killed in action. |
