Boilermaker 2007

WKTV News

The Boilermaker Road Race and the Utica Roadrunners are starting a Boilermaker Training Program in Utica, Rome and Ilion.

The training sessions are geared toward people who have a goal of completing either the Boilermaker 15K or Carbone 5K Run.  The first week of every session starts out walking for 15 minutes.  Then they will build time walking at the same time and adding running intervals.  Speakers will be provided for the first four weeks to teach new and experienced runners what they need to know to be successful.  Topics that will be covered include warming up and stretching, safety, proper shoes and slothing, injury prevention and how to cross train.  After the first four weeks of training indoors on the track, the class moves out to the streets.

The goal of the New Balance Training Program is to promote the sport of running to the community, introduce new people to the sport of running and, to keep people motivated and focused on their goal of completing their first Boilermaker.

>The Utica program will begin at 7am this Saturday, February 3rd, at the Fitness Mill, 587 Main Street, NY Mills.

>The Rome Program will also begin at 7am this Saturday, February 3rd, at RFA, 112 East Thomas Street, Rome.

>The Ilion Program begins at 7:45am on Saturday, February 17th at the Ilion Central School Fitness Center, 1 Golden Bomber Drive, Ilion.
