Ceremonial run and walk at Hamilton College honors Run For The Fallen national run
CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - One year after the inaugural Run For The Fallen, a ceremonial run and walk was held Sunday at Hamilton College.
Last year's Run For The Fallen was a 4000 mile cross country relay held last summer in honor of all soldiers who have lost their lives in the Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The event was organized by 2003 Hamilton College graduate Jon Bellona to remember his classmate, Michael Clearly who was killed in combat. The 2008 run started in California and ending in Washington, D.C. but Sunday's run and walk was ceremonial and extended the length of the campus. Kris Bellona from the event said, "We need to remember not only the individuals...the contribution they've made to the nation and those people who've been left behind." A portrait of Michael Clearly hangs in a building on the Hamilton College campus. |
