(WKTV) - Congressman Michael Arcuri's predecessor in the 24th Congressional seat spent more than two decades in Washington, where he saw firsthand the influence that Senator Edward Kennedy had in the nation's capital.

Congressman Sherwood Boehlert represented Central New York from 1983-2006 before retiring.

He spoke with NEWSChannel 2 via phone on Wednesday regarding Senator Kennedy's death.
