AARP hosts "myth busters" tour on health care reform
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Separating the fact from the fiction - that's the goal behind the AARP myth busters.
The health care reform proposal is thousands of pages long, and extremely confusing. On Thursday, we caught up with the AARP Myth busters tour at the North Utica Senior Center. One myth they say they're hearing is that health care reform will harm people on Medicare. The AARP claims it wont. Another myth is that the AARP has endorsed President Obama's plan, when they still have not done so. Volunteers say they want people to know the truth. "We've done lots of research regarding health care reform throughout the country," said Erin Mitchell of the AARP. "We're using our studies as well as what we're hearing in the polls." The tour has already made stops in Utica, Rome and Oneonta. It ends Monday at the New York State Fair for Senior Citizen Day. |
