Primary election polls closes, results being processed

(WKTV) - The polls will close at 9:00 p.m. in the Decision 2009 Primary in New York State. There are more that 80 local races in Oneida, Herkimer and Otsego Counties.

One of the main county-wide races in Oneida County is for Surrogate Court Judge. Running on the Republican side are Claudia Tenney and Michael Laucello. On the Independent and Conservative sides are Louis Gigliotti and Michael Laucello.

There are also a few Oneida County Legislature races up for grabs this year, both Democratic in Tuesday's primary. The 22nd District Democratic candidates are Bruce Bodsky and Shannon Scott. The 26th District has Peter Caruso running against Joseph Falcone. The Oneida County Legislature Race will also take place between Patrick Brennan and Edward Stephenson for the 3rd District.

In Utica, there is a Democratic primary race between 1st Ward Council candidates Nedzad Smajic, Jane Kelley and Frank Vescera.

In Rome, the Republican primary race will take place for the 6th Ward Council. James Mumpton and Anthony Darcangelo are running.

There are many primary races Tuesday in New Hartford. Incumbent for Town Supervisor Earle Reed is not running for reelection. John Kalil Jr. and Patrick Tyksinski will run for the Republican position Tuesday. Also on the Republican side is the primary race for New Hartford Town Council between Donald Backman, James Messa and Robert Payne. The New Hartford Town Justice primary will take place between Kevin Copeland and James Van Slyke, both running on the GOP and Conservative tickets.
