Man found dead in fishing boat on Oneida Lake

NORTH BAY, NY (WKTV) - A 64 year old man from Hamburg was found dead in his fishing boat in North Bay Tuesday.

According to New York State Police, they and members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office responded Tuesday to an unknown body floating in the water near the shore of Lake Shore Road in North Bay.

Upon arrival, authorities found a male, 64, floating in his fishing boat. The male's upper body was submerged under the water, while his lower part was still in the boat. Members were able to pull the boat and male to shore where life saving efforts were attempted by the North Bay Fire Department.

The male sent to Oneida City Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. He was then identified as Ronald R. Emerling, 64, of Hamburg.

Authorities said no further details are available at this time, and the investigation is continuing pending the autopsy results.
