Breast Cancer in play at PGA Tournament

By By EVAN WHITE

VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Golf will be the focus at Atunyote later in the week but today and tomorrow, Breast Cancer will receive a lot of attention as October begins National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Atunyote is welcoming survivors to round one Thursday for free.

Earlier today Actor and breast cancer awareness advocate Stephen Baldwin spoke with reporters about his story, seeing his mother and sister diagnosed within the last 19 years. Baldwin is set to play in a Pro-Am tournament today and hopes such attention will help further efforts to curb this disease.

A cancer so deadly, roughly 40,000 women are expected to die from it by year's end, and one that impacts men as well.

"We gotta fight it, we gotta do all we can and I am more the happy to commit myself to be on the front lines of battle as best I can," said Baldwin.

If you are attending the tournament on Thursday, you are asked to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
