Oneida man beaten by son, in critical condition

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Oneida man is in critical condition at a Syracuse hospital, after being allegedly beaten by his own son.

Oneida City Police say that William VanPatten III got into an fight with his father, William VanPatten Jr., Monday night. Authorities say VanPatten's son allegedly punched him so badly, he broken his father's nose and jaw. The older VanPatten has not regained consciousness. He is in critical condition at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

The son is now behind bars, facing assault charges and will be back in Oneida City Court on December 4th.
