UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The current Oneida County Legislative Minority Leader says he won't seek the leadership post again.

Democrat Michael Hennessy's two-year stint as minority leaders expires at the end of the year. He will, however remain on the legislature. Hennessy says there are important issues in his district that need his undivided attention.

"I've also just joined as plaintiff on a lawsuit in regards to the catering license with the NYS Liquor Authority and the Beeches and Oneida Enterprises so I'm fully involved in those issues," says Hennessy.

The Democratic caucus will choose another minority leader sometime next month, with the intention of having that person in place by January 1st.

Legislator Chad Davis says he'd be interested in the post if his colleagues see fit to place their trust in him, but that he'd defer to a senior democrat should they express interest in the position.
