Coats donated to students in need at Remington ElementaryILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - As winter time fast approaches, numerous students at Remington Elementary in Ilion won't be left out in the cold, thanks to coat donations by the United Way and Herb Philipson's. The coats were originally donated as part of the recent United Way telethon. With so many coats still remaining after the telethon, the United Way and Philipson's teamed with the Gram Lorraine Project to make sure area students who wouldn't otherwise couldn't afford it get a brand new coat before the temperatures drop. "This is an incredible donation that they gave to us," said Phillip Hayne of the United Way. "And I think that it's their way to give back to the community, and they relied on us to make sure they get to the right children." Children at Remington Elementary aren't the only ones - they've been working with other organizations throughout the valley to make sure other children in the area receive coats as well.
