UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - There was no reason to fear cafeteria food Tuesday.

Saint Elizabeth Medical Center featured Utica favorites Tuesday afternoon. Utica knows food, and employees and visitors to the medical center couldn't say enough good things about it on Tuesday.

The goal of Utica Day was to show people the special things that come from this area, and the staff did its research. Everything from Hemstrought's half moons to Manny's cheese cake to Voss' barbecue sauce was on hand.

"Greens, riggies, tomato pie...some of the other favorites in the area," said Mike Gargas, general manager of food and nutrition for the medical center of the food on hand Tuesday. "Definitely people are excited about the Kewpee burgers because they haven't seen it in so long, which I think is great. We have the square burger to go on it so it worked out well."

Utica Day may be an annual event at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, but employees would rather it be weekly.

Even Mayor David Roefaro, who was touring the orthopedic wing, made a stop in the cafeteria for lunch.
